Four Mount Saint Mary College students recently got an in-depth look at the airport business during the 2016 Airports Conference in Hershey, Pa.

The conference provided leadership in planning and developing a regional airport system with consideration for economics, environmental compatibility, local property rights, and safeguarding of the public interest.

“This conference enlightened students about many career options,” noted Moira Tolan, Mount business professor and graduate program coordinator.

The four Mount business/accounting students that attended were: Amanda Pecorella of Fishkill, N.Y.; Matthew D’Addario of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; Peter Greco of Canaan, Conn.; and Ignazio Comparetto of Marlboro, N.Y.

“This event opened my eyes to all of the different problems that the airline industry faces and how innovative solutions are needed,” said Greco. “The breakaway learning sessions also sparked new interests and made me realize how versatile a Mount business degree is.”

“Even though my field isn’t directly related to airports, there are plenty of employment opportunities for business majors,” explained Pecorella. “I could be an accountant for a client who works with airports, for example. I’m glad I now have that background experience so I can be more marketable.”

James P. Smith Jr., founder of Advance Testing Company, Inc. and a Mount patron, paid the travel expenses for the Mount group.

Peter Gregory, visiting assistant professor business, attended as the faculty representative. Two employees from Advance Testing, Christopher McCracken ’02 and Christopher Harrison ’09, MBA ’11 were also on-hand to mentor the students.
